Portable Reverse Osmosis System 150 GPD Membrane Installation Instructions

First, insert the bottom of the enclosed long-reach spout (where the two black o-rings are located) all the way down into the metal spout elbow fitting on the output of the GAC post filter. Then remove the aerator from the end of your faucet and replace it with the diverter valve. To install, turn the diverter valve clockwise over the faucet end and tighten. If your faucet has outside threads, the diverter will fit without an adapter fitting ring. If your faucet has inside threads, use one of the two enclosed adapter fitting rings and gasket, that fits your faucet’s inside threads. If your faucet has non-standard threads, you may need to purchase a special adapter from your local Home Depot or Lowe’s or measure the opening and call us.

Initial Setup

Place the white drain tubing into your sink, then move the spout over your sink and rotate the knob on the diverter. Turn the water on cold only, and run 8 to 10 gallons of water thourgh the filter to flush out the cartridges. This will remove the carbon fines from the new KDF/GAC pre-filter and the GAC post filter cartridges. At first, it may take a minute for the water to flow. Turn the diverter knob back to it’s initial position for unfiltered water from your sink faucet.

Operating Tips

You should run the water for a minute or two if you haven’t used the filter over night, or for several minutes after returning from a trip. The water output can vary depending on the pressure of your water. It can take up to 1 minute to generate an 8 oz glass of water. An alternative to water on demand is to direct the spout into a 1 or 2 gallon water container. It will generate approximately 2 gallons in a half hour.

Replacing the KDF/GAC Pre-filter

Replace the KDF/GAC pre-filter every 2 or 3 years with our KDF/GAC IL-E inline cartridge. Remove the tubing from the ends by pressing down on the outer ring surrounding the fitting and pulling the tubing straight out. Then remove the 1/4” quick connect fitting from each end and install into the new cartridge. Then run for a few minutes to remove the carbon fines from the new KDF/GAC pre-filter and check for leaks.

Replacing the GAC Post Filter

Replace the coconut shell GAC post filter every year with our IL-GAC. Remove the fittings from both ends and connect to the new inline cartridge.

Replacing the RO Membrane

The membrane module will need to be replace every 2 to 5 years. This may vary depending on the harness of your water. A total dissolved solids meter can be used to check the membrane. A TDS meter (total dissolved solids) (available for $39.95) may be used to check the effectiveness of the membrane.
