Arlington, VA Water Report Quality Analysis

The water report for Arlington, VA is at:

arlingtonva.us/departments/EnvironmentalServices/uepd/wquality/images/file76497.pdf

The water looks generally good. Everything is below the maximum contaminant level. However, lead is at 3.1 ppb, with the maximum contaminant level at 15, arsenic is at .66, MCL is 10 ppb, but our KDF/GAC cartridge will remove lead and inorganic arsenic. You also have  HAA5s and TTHMs, which is present in municipal water with chlorine, but KDF/GAC will reduce those.  Fluoride is at 1.3 ppm and nitrates are 2.6 ppb, but below the MCL.  Choramines is used to disinfect the water, and it's fairly high averaging 3.1 ppm.  We have a special cartridge for chloramines, catalytic carbon.  You have have chromium at 2 ppb, but KDF will remove it.

I do see some radioactivity, but below the MCL with Beta particles and radium.  A water softener will remove this type of radioactivity.  We don't sell whole house softeners, but we do have a water softener cartridge.

A minimum system for the lead, arsenic and chloramines would be our UCD-CH. See http://www.thewaterexchange.net/chloramine-water-filters.htm.

If you're interested in removing fluoride I would recommend a triple filter system, our UCT-CH-F.  If you want to remove the radioactivity, our triple filter, Model UCT-CH-S will work.  However, it does not remove fluoride.  See http://www.thewaterexchange.net/under_counter_filters.html>

We also have countertop versions of the filters.
