Water Filters

Chicago, IL Water Report Quality Analysis

The Chicago, IL water report is online at:

Generally, your water looks okay because everything is under the maximum contaminant level.  However, lead is high at 6.57 ppb (maximum contaminant level is 15 ppb) but KDF will remove it along with small amounts of other metals like chromium, copper and barium.   You do have HAA5s and TTHMs, present in all municipal systems, but our KDF/GAC cartridge reduces them.  Fluoride is at 1.42  ppm and we have a cartridge that will remove it.  Chlorine is used as a disinfectant and averages 0.9 ppm and KDF will remove it.  See our NSF-53 test at:

Radium at 1.12 pCi/l (MCL is 5) and Alpha particles at 3.14 pCi/l (MCL is 15) are present but under the MCL.  If you have a home water softener, that will reduce the radium. We also sell sodium/softener cartridges for our filter systems.  Alpha particles can be remove using reverse osmosis.

From the above information, I would recommend a single under-counter housing filter with our KDF/GAC cartridge, Model UC at $109.95 with free shipping. If you want to reduce the fluoride, you'll need a second housing.  Our fluoride filter, Model UCD-F, includes a fluoride removal cartridge and a KDF/GAC cartridge.  It sells for $189.95.  If you want to reduce the radium, you can add a sodium/softener cartridge to the system.
