Cincinnati, OH Water Report Quality Analysis

The current water report for Cincinnati, OH is at:

cincinnati-oh.gov/water/downloads/water_pdf38998.pdf

Generally, your water looks good, though Lead is at 3.3 ppb (maximum contaminant level is 15 ppb) but KDF will remove it along with small amounts of other metals like chromium, copper and barium.  Chromium is listed at 1.27 ppb, with an MCL of 100.  You do have HAA5s and TTHMs, present in all municipal systems, but our KDF/GAC cartridge reduces them.  Fluoride is from 0.88 to 1 ppm and we have a cartridge that will remove it.  Chlorine averages 1 ppm and KDF will remove it.  See our NSF-53 test at:

http://www.thewaterexchange.net/nsf-53_test.html

Radioactivity in the form of Beta Particles is present from 6 to 24 pCi/L (MCL is 50).  If you have a water softener, it will reduce that type of radioactivity.  We don't sell whole house water softeners, but we do sell a sodium/softener cartridge that you can add. Nitrates are listed at 1 ppm, with an MCL of 10 ppm.

With the above information, I would recommend a single under-counter housing filter with our KDF/GAC cartridge, Model UC at $109.95 with free shipping. If you want to reduce the fluoride, you'll need a second housing.  Our fluoride filter, Model UCD-F, includes a fluoride removal cartridge and a KDF/GAC cartridge.  It sells for $189.95.

See http://www.thewaterexchange.net/under_counter_filters.html.

We also have countertop versions of the filters.
