Durham, NC Water Report Quality Analysis
The Durham NC water report is online at:
ci.durham.nc.us/departments/wm/pdf/water_quality_report_05.pdf
The water looks okay. However, they list some contaminants present, though they are below the action level. Lead was measured at 6 ppb (maximum contaminant level is 15). TTHMs and HAA5s are listed, common in water using chlorine. KDF will reduce iron and chromium. Fluoride is listed at 0.99 ppm and is about average. Chloramines is used as the disinfectant and is high averaging 2.8 ppm. We have a special cartridge for chloramines. Our KDF/GAC cartridge will reduce lead, chlorine, iron, TTHMs and HAA5s and our catalytic carbon cartridge will reduce chloramines.
I would suggest our double under-counter filter Model UCD-CH chloramines, chlorine, lead, TTHM and HAA5s, other heavy metals, pesticides and organics (countertop Model CTD-CH). If you'd like to reduce fluoride, we have a cartridge that removes up to 90 percent in a triple cartridge system.
