Phoenix, AZ ater Report Quality Analysis
The Phoenix, AZ water report is online at:
phoenix.gov/WATERSERVICES/qualre10.pdf
Your water looks okay. However, they list some contaminants present, though they are below the action level. Arsenic is a concern measured as high as 10.5 ppb, but averaging 6.5 ppb (maximum contaminant level is 10 ppb). KDF will reduce it. Lead was measured at 5 ppb (MCL 15). TTHMs and HAA5s are listed, common in water using chlorine. Iron is listed at 0.1 ppm which is below the MCL or 0.3, but is present and chromium is listed as 56 ppb. KDF will reduce iron and chromium. Fluoride is listed at 0.80 ppm and is lower than average. Chlorine is used as the disinfectant and averages 0.83 ppm, which is lower than normal. Our KDF/GAC cartridge will reduce lead, chlorine, iron, chromium, TTHMs and HAA5s, some of the arsenic, arsenic V. But you will need a special cartridge for arsenic III (trivalent).
I would suggest our double under-counter filter Model UCD-AR for arsenic, chlorine, lead, TTHM and HAA5s, other heavy metals, pesticides and organics (countertop Model CTD-AR). See http://www.thewaterexchange.net/arsenic-water-filters.htm . If you'd like to reduce fluoride, we have a cartridge that removes up to 90 percent in a triple cartridge system.
The water report doesn't breakdown the type of arsenic, but it's a combination of erosion and runoff from orchard chemicals. You can call your water company and find out. If it's mainly arsenic V you may be able to use just our single KDF/GAC filter and one of the following filters:
See http://www.thewaterexchange.net/under_counter_filters.html for our under-counter filters and
http://www.thewaterexchange.net/countertop-water-filters.htm for our countertops.
